In terms of community coverage, "Whitney (Ava and C.I.)" kicked things off Sunday and Ava and C.I. did the illustration below (with Isaiah) for that feature.
Last night, Marica, Kat and Stan weighed in.
And that pretty much says everything except for one thing.
I hate the vultures.
You may think I mean the media and they are certainly picking her bones.
But I'm referring to people like a woman in the building that I've never more than nodded to who immediately rushed to me Monday mumbling how awful the news (of the death) is but do I have some Whitney CDs? Any on me? Any she could copy?
You made it through your whole life without buying her music, why are you chasing the hearse now?
It makes no sense to me.
It's not like she just emerged. She's been in the public eye since 1985.
So clearly you made the decision that her music wasn't your can of cola.
But now that she's dead you suddenly need to have a copy of her music?
This same woman did the same thing when Amy Winehouse died. Only she didn't ask me. She went up to this guy I'm friends with and -- he's British, maybe that's why she went to him -- talked about how awful Amy's death was and all and, oh, by the way, did he have any of her music?
She never cares about anyone until they die. She's the most ghoulish person in the building. She was going on about Heath Ledger. Oh, he was so wonderful and so great and she never saw him until the Dark Knight but she didn't know about him, she told me Monday, until he died.
People like her are vultures.
