As we have written before: Donald Trump beats Barack Obama like a rented mule and many Republicans/conservatives react by beating up on…. Trump! Huh? Ever hear of the concept of the enemy of my enemy is my friend, fellas/gals?
Trump is attacked by some Republicans/conservatives because as a New York businessman he donated to some Democrats and even Obama Dimocrats. The donations angle is a fair line of attack although most people understand the need for businessmen in New York City and elsewhere to bribe/donate/contribute to politicians. There are a lot of reasons for some Republicans/conservatives to oppose Donald Trump but why is he the only target of the “get out” crowd?
Consider Newt Gingrich. Newt Gingrich is running a publicity stunt candidacy. Newt has to know that he is not going to be the Republican nominee for president. It’s not just Newt’s repulsive face either. It’s not just that Wayne Gacy “smile”. It’s not just Newt’s “baggage” – you know, the wife with cancer he dumped for another wife, the impeachment drama of Bill Clinton while Newt was getting the same treatment in parking lots from GOP wives and interns, the temper tantrums, the damaging stories that will come out.
Desperate Housewives. Dana e-mailed me to ask if the show was going to be renewed and, with nearly a full season of it under my belt, what did I think of the show?
First, I'm sorry. I thought everyone knew that the show had been renewed for two more years. I caught that on a Hulu piece with the actress who plays Lynette and Marc Cherry (who created the show).
So the show's fine. It will be back next season (and the one after).
So what do I think as we gear up for the season finale?
I have no idea.
If you're asking about cliff hangers, I have no idea?
If you're asking my opinion? I would love to see more Vanessa Williams but I realize that she had more to do at the start of the season (her marriage problems and her eventual divorce and move to the neighborhood) and that these storylines tend to ebb and flow.
But they better have a good story for her next year. If they don't, I will not be pleased.
Susan is the perfect example of that. She had a storyline with the online sexy work (she didn't actually have sex online). Then she went through a slow phase. Then she had the kidney story and now it appears she'll be on trial for trying to poison Paul.
Terri Hatcher makes the show.
That was the biggest surprise to me.
I like her and I liked her in Lois & Clark. But I didn't realize how good of an actress she was. She is so much better than she's ever given credit for being.
I would rank her and the actresses playing Bree and Renee as the three finest actresses.
Gabby's funny but I expected her to be a lot more sympathetic than she is.
I didn't expect to like Bree at all. Because of her outstanding performance as crazy Kimberly on Melrose. But she's pretty amazing in her role. And it's a completely different role (Bree) than crazy Kimberly.
You'll notice I now know all the main characters' names. Who don't I know? The minor characters. I know Mike is Susan's husband. I don't know the name of her son. I don't know the name of the dead woman's mother (I can't stand that woman, she's the one missing two fingers who hates Paul).
I somehow missed Brian Austin Green's last episode. That's too bad because I liked him with Bree and wish they'd kept him around. (Renee was interested in him. When does she get a relationship?)
I like Carlos but I really feel like they under use him.
Matt from Melrose gets on my nevers. Lynette's husband. Tom. I really can't stand either of them most of the time. Their problems become more and more petty and it's like, "You live in that neighborhood, where people are killed and everything else happens. Learn to deal with your petty problems already and be happy for what's you've got."
I mean, that's nonsense. A big, huge fight (so bad, their daughter thinks they're divorcing and can't stop crying) over whether to go to Hawaii or in an RV for the vacation? I mean, grow up. Most Americans can't afford a vacation right now.
So those are my opinions.
