Love was almost all around.
First, Whitney and Alex have agreed to marry. One of the funniest exchanges was in the first segment of the show where they were discussing what they do next now that they've agreed to marry?
Alex: How do you want to do this, do you want like an engagement ring or something?
Whitney: You know what, if you're going to do that, I'd rather just have the cash.
While they went through their drama and issues, Mark is still dealing with Roxanne.
He asks Neal for help and Neal is still a little shocked by the news and had no real advice. He said that they should tell Lily and get her insight. So he tells her.
Mark: I think I have . . . feelings for her
Lily: What? You like Roxanne How is that possible? She's over thirty and has her own car.
Mark: I know. It doesn't make any sense.
That was funny but may have been most funny for those who've watched the show from the start and seen not only Mark's big ex (the one who ended it with him) but also the type of woman he dates (like the 'nester' that Lily had to tell it was over for him when he couldn't). Roxanne is Mark's age. Mark doesn't date his age.
But, Mark insisted, "You guys I think about her a lot. Like I'll see a cute baby and I'll be like 'Oh, Roxanne would hate that.' Or like, 'Look at that alley. Roxanne is probably sleeping in it'."
The term is "smitten." Mark is smitten with Roxanne.
So they go to the court house to the marriage license window -- which Roxanne's pointed out is right next to where you go for your DUI -- and nothing is working including no flowers. Lily has pot in her car and offers to go get that.
She also freaks out briefly that Whitney's now getting married before her.
But mainly she's with Neal, Roxanne and Mark.
Mark can't believe Roxanne wants nothing to do with him except as a friend.
He tells her that's just because she hasn't seen him with anyone yet. So she hasn't felt threatened or scared she might lose him.
He grabs a surprised Lily and plants a passionate kiss.
Roxanne says she didn't feel anything. Meanwhile, Neal's saying, "I know that look" and Lily (her look) is insisting she's fine but she's about to fall over from the kiss. Mark's a good kisser.
I could actually see him and Lily together. Possibly due to the fact that it would be rebound time for Lily. (Technically for Roxanne too but her one-episode of 'I'm back with my husband' was so brief that I don't think anyone sees it that way.)
It was probably the actor who plays Mark's best work yet and he's been an all star on this show all season long. (Dan O'Brien plays Mark.)
I am one of three "Whitney" bloggers in this community. In addition, a number of us cover TV shows. These are all the TV posts done by the community last week, from "Highlights:"
"Whitney,""Whitney," "why community sucks," "Whitney and the Iraq War," "Whitney,"
"Smash and other things," "Missing (ABC)," "Revenge," "revenge hypothesis," "Cougar Town -- Give Courtney Cox the Emmy," "Unforgettable," "Raising Hope," "revenge - is emily part of a larger group?," "Smash," "Racist ABC, Racist Marc Cherry, Racist Housewives," "Never again PBS," "bring back the soapy mini-series," "The Good Wife" and "Smash" -- Ann, Betty, Rebecca, Marcia, Elaine, Mike, Rebecca, Ruth and Stan cover TV.
When Third started out, there was C.I.'s The Common Ills (the first community site, the one that spawned us all), Rebecca's Sex and Politics and Screeds and Attitude, Folding Star's A Winding Road and that was it. Kat was doing reviews already for The Common Ills but didn't have her site yet.
And back in those days, there were so few community sites that they would do "Highlight" and it would be a repost of something Rebecca wrote, and then something Folding Star did, then something C.I. did. And then there were a few more sites and it just became easier to do one Highlight that picked the best of the week.
So each week, we do "Highlights." And it always includes the TV blog posts.
