"Desperate Housewives" returned to ABC Sunday night.
The big news?
This last season is falling apart. So is the four women's friendship (Bree, Susan, Gabby and Lynette). Bree spent the episode trying to get the other women to talk to her or feeling sorry for herself.
That crazy cop Bree was dating hauled Susan, Gabby and Lynette in for questioning. (Last season ended with Carlos killing Gabby's abusive step-father by accident and the four women burying the body and promising to keep it a secret.) It was pointed out that Bree wasn't hauled in which was one more reason for the women not to talk to Bree.
Bree tried baking and visiting but that didn't work. Then she hit the bottle again. (She is an alcoholic who was in recovery.) She went to the cop and told him she would sign any confession he wanted her to, without even reading it, if he would just leave her friends alone. He laughed in her face and told her he wanted to hurt her and her friends were the only thing she cared about.
Gabby lied to him that Carlos was in rehab for having an affair and then went into the rehab against the rules to tell Carlos the lie. Carlos seemed okay with it but later Gabby would call the rehab and find out that he had checked himself out.
Lynette freaked after her questioning. She ran to Tom who was at the airport leaving with his new girlfriend for Paris. Lynette cornered him in the men's room and asked him no to go. She explained she was an accessory in a murder.
Susan thinks if she and her husband Mike and child move to NYC, they can escape. Her scenes were the worst yet.
They really don't write good scenes for her. She (Hatcher) deserves so much better and has made so much out of so little on this show.
Renee (Vanessa Williams) saw her boyfriend leaving Bree's house in the morning and wrongly thought they'd had sex. She talked to the old woman on the block who told her she was a knockout and to go fight for her man. Renee was willing to try but instead saw Bree driving off (from her own driveway) and she may have been drunk.
And Bree checks into a motel room. Loads up on a bottle and talks to the dead friend (who does the narration) and then?
Apparently runs down the cop. The car looks like her car. Is it?
We don't know.
