"Guys would call during sex to brag if we'd let them," Whitney explained to Lily who was wondering if it was too soon to date. She and Neil have broken up. The engagement is off. A bartender sends her a drink. Is it too soon to start dating?
Whitney promises to find out from Alex if Neal's already dating someone.
Neil is dating a man named Steven.
Whitney and Alex do a drop-by to check on Neil and find out that he and Steven are making lamb. Alex thinks they're business partners. Whitney thinks they're on a date.
And Whitney is right.
It's a first for Neil and he comes out to Whitney about the relationship and his confusion. Whitney then helps him come out to Alex.
Roxanne and Mark pop in right after Neil comes out to Alex. They're there to watch Justified.
Neil: No Whitney, it's fine. It'll be easier this way.
Mark: What's easier? Are you coming out of the closet? [Catching on.] Oh, man, that joke's not funny if you're coming out of the closet.
More than any other characters, Mark and Whitney kept the laughs coming this episode. It was a strong episode. But Mark and Whitney brought the humor.
Neil: I don't know what this means, just yet, I'm not attracted to all men. And you don't have to worry, I'm not attracted to you.
Mark: Okay, well you don't have to be hurtful
Letting Mark be upset that Neil wasn't attracted to him was smart because it was funny and completely in character for Mark.
Mark: Alright, check it out. Did my hair, ironed my shirt, aftershave! Let's see that little punk not be into this noise. Take a whiff.
Alex: No, there will be no whiff taking.
Mark: Why? Scared you might like it?
Alex: Neil's not into you, alright? Get over it.
Mark: Uh, he's confused. But he's not blind.
I thought it was a great episode.
